His father's name is Gadadhar Saha and his mother name is Birajmohini Saha, and he is the single child of his parents. Mahadev Saha's wife's name is Nila Saha and they have two sons.
Mahadev Saha passed Matriculation in 1960 from Dhunat High School in Bogra. He got sick in high school even after entering Dhaka College and later passed his high school in 1964 Azizul Haque College in Bogra. He was admitted to the Honors Class in Bengali Literature at Azizul Haque College and passed the Honors in 1967 and came to Rajshahi. He received his MA degree in Bangla under Rajshahi University. After his MA he was engaged in research in English for some time but his keen interest in writing poetry took him to Dhaka before finishing his studies. He joined the then-weekly East Pradesh newspaper in the sixties with the help of Jyoti Prakash Dutt. He was a journalist in the biosphere and had long been associated with the daily Ittefaq. His poetic urge began in his adolescent period. He has been a resident of Canada since the age of 2016.
Mahadev Saha has published 55 books of poetry and he has owns 130 books.
