Humayun Azad was a Bangladeshi poet, novelist, critic, and researcher. He was an anti-traditional and multidisciplinary writer. Humayun Azad as born name Humayun Kabir and he was born in Rarhikhal village under Bikrapur, Munshiganj district nearby Dhaka, on 28 April 1947, Bangladesh. The famous Bengali scientist Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose, was born in the same village. Humayun Azad died in Munich, Germany, 12 August 2004, he was found dead in his apartment. Humayun Azad passed his matriculation examination in 1962, from Sir Jagadish Chandra Basu Institute and passed college examination in 1964, from Dhaka Collage. Humayun Azad completed his BA and MA degrees from the University of Dhaka, in Bengali language and literature in 1967. Humayun Azad obtained his Ph.D. in 1976, in linguistics submitting his thesis titled "Pronominalisation in Bangla" from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He started his career by joining the Chittagong College in 1969 and after he joined the University of Chittagong as a lecturer in 1970. After independent of Bangladesh, Jahangirnagar University in 1972, Also he was devoted as an associate professor of Bengali at the University of Dhaka in 1978 and promoted to the post as a professor in 1986.
In the year 1992, the feminist dissertation published the book "Naree" (women) response to the whole country. The book was banned in Bangladesh from the year 1995 to 2000. This book is recognized as the most widely discussed research work. He received the Bangla Academy Award in 1986 and the posthumous Ekushey Padak for his outstanding contribution to overall literary works and linguistics in the year 2012. The number of his published books is more than 70.
